Hormone Therapy in Texas

Low Testosterone, or low-T, can be the source of feeling sluggish or low energy, experiencing decreased sex drive or feeling depressed. As if those things weren’t enough, low-T can also increase your risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis.

Once you’re diagnosed with low-T, you might ask, “How fast can I fix this?” As much as you want to feel like your youthful self again, treatments, and feeling not just good but great, will take some time.

How much change can be noticed after a month of hormone therapy?

Although some men notice changes and improvements sooner, most who are prescribed testosterone replacement therapy see differences over a three-to-six-month period.

However, in a 2011 edition of the European Journal of Endocrinology, research showed that the effects of testosterone replacement therapy on men’s libido and symptoms of depression may begin after three weeks.

Low T treatment is an ongoing process and usually will continue long term. The most common form is a topical gel, which can be applied daily. Injection therapy is also an option. Some men receiving low-T get testosterone injections every 7 to 22 days. Testosterone levels peak two to three days after the injection and then slowly drop until the next dose of the hormone is given. But as with many other chronic conditions, if you stop the therapy, the problem returns—meaning your testosterone levels will drop back down to below-normal levels. All the more reason to seek expert help that’s close to home
