If you’re concerned about gaining weight during the holidays, you are not alone. In recent years, articles about holiday weight gain have been written up everywhere from the New York Times to the New England Journal of Medicine. Many studies have examined the holiday weight gain phenomenon, and some studies have even suggested that it’s not just limited to the holidays, but that additional weight only BEGINS accumulating during the holidays, and then continues piling on through the winter months.

Although most people think that testosterone is just for men, it also plays an important role in women’s wellness. Women need testosterone for health, in the same way that men need a small amount of progesterone. In the case of males, progesterone is a precursor, or necessary building component, in the creation of testosterone. Testosterone is an androgen, meaning it is a sex related hormone (sex hormones give us our male and female characteristics). As men grow older, their levels of testosterone begin to naturally decline, and their estrogen levels begin to rise. Among women, the reverse is true; as they age, estrogen levels decline and there is a correlating bump in testosterone levels related to menopause.
