Avoiding Weight Gain During the Holidays

Avoiding Weight Gain During the Holidays

by Natalie (SU)

But we at SynergenX are strong believers in taking charge of our health, so we prepared this helpful list of tips to help you get through the holidays without putting on extra holiday weight. In much the same way as we decorate our homes, make shopping lists, and schedule vacation days and holiday travel, so too can we can plan to maintain our weight through the holiday season - and beyond!

Step One: Prepare the Mind.

The first step to avoiding gaining holiday weight is to make a conscious DECISION to take good care of our bodies. Committing ourselves to eating a healthy, balanced diet, and focusing on the outcome we desire, will make it so much easier to have willpower when eating. Visualization: health, fitness, and perhaps even fitting into a fabulous dress or suit for a holiday party.

Step Two: Tackle the Emotions.

It’s common to overeat when we’re stressed, depressed, or lonely. If we know the holidays are a difficult time, we can make a special effort to reward ourselves for healthy choices. Strategy: since the holidays are so full of tradition, don’t deprive yourself of your favorite high-calorie favorites, just limit your portion sizes. You may also choose to take a walk after dinner, or introduce some healthy new favorites.

Step Three: Don’t go it Alone.

It’s a well-known fact that there is strength in numbers. When we enlist the help of a trusted friend or family member, we can encourage each other to stay strong when it comes to healthy eating during the holidays. Recruit a friend: partners can cheer each other on, so you stay the course. Whether a friend or a professional, communication and encouragement go a long way.

Step Four: Have a Plan.

Avoiding holiday weight gain doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have to count calories. While keeping track of what you eat is very helpful, these 4 tips we shared earlier this year are a good start:

·         Drink plenty of water

·         Avoid drinking too much alcohol

·         Limit portion sizes, and limit sugar, and take a brisk walk once or twice a day

·         Eat at regular meal times, and opt for fruits, vegetables, grains, and complex carbohydrates.

We hope that these tips will help you make it through the holiday season celebrating things like increased energy, better mood, better sleep, and the victory of knowing that you did it!

We offer a complete line of vitamin and lipotropic injections, as well as comprehensive testing and analysis tools like body composition analysis, and our pharmaceutical weight loss program.
